Polyester holds up, until you look closer

It earned its place: it dries fast, it lasts, it costs less to make. Fair. But wear it long enough and other things show.

It can't stay fresh on its own

Sweat is water plus oils. Polyester moves the water out and keeps the oils, which is why it needs antimicrobial finishes and special sports detergents just to manage smell.

Dry is not the same as clean

It feels like what it is

Plastic fibre barely absorbs, so sweat sits between you and it. The wet-shell feeling in round three is not the sport. It's the fabric.

Soaked, pressed against you, session after session. Maybe that matters, maybe it doesn't. The honest answer is the industry never asked. It was just what fabric had become.

The bar was full-stretch grappling on soaked skin. Clearing it made a layer that holds up anywhere: second-skin fit, breathes in the heat, stays fresher for longer.

Where it started

The industry got obsessed with drying sweat. We got interested in what it leaves behind.

Nobody we could find was making a rashguard without polyester. In a sport where you are soaked and the fabric is against your skin for an hour, nobody had asked why we start with plastic.

Everything after that was working out how to make a natural fibre survive jiu-jitsu. Bamboo on its own stretched out, so cotton went in to hold the shape. A prototype tore when someone's toe caught it, so the stitching was rebuilt at the tear points. 270gsm, so nothing punches through.

True to size, unisex, and made to sit tight. If you're between sizes, go down one. Judge fit by chest and torso width, not length. For women, YM to S is the usual pick.

Polyester keeps what sweat leaves behind. That's why the funk survives normal detergent and people end up buying specialist sport washes. Natural fibre releases it in an ordinary wash: you wash it, it resets. The whole shirt is built around that difference.

The V1 is a 270gsm heavyweight, the same weight class as the polyester rashguards you already own, with reinforced sport stitching and a silicone gripper hem. It's built for grip and pull.

That's half the point. It's cut for grappling, and it wears as a base layer for everything else: the run, the gym, the hike, the rest of the day. It breathes and stays fresher for longer, so it doesn't live in the gym bag.

64% bamboo viscose, 28% organic cotton, 8% elastane for stretch. The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Class I, the class used for baby clothing.

Cold machine wash on gentle, hang it to dry. No tumble dryer, no bleach, no iron, no dry cleaning. Ordinary detergent is the point: you never need a specialist wash to bring it back to neutral.
